Project goals
- Afforestation & Maintenance:
Establish 200 hectares of new agroforestry plantations and maintain 500 hectares of existing ones—laying the groundwork for long-term carbon storage and biodiversity recovery. - Community-Led Governance:
Secure Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC) from local communities and formalize carbon rights agreements to ensure transparency, equity, and collective ownership. - Land Mapping & Documentation:
Conduct land record collection and GIS-based mapping to define eligible areas for carbon credit generation and project integrity. - Capacity Building:
Deliver training sessions to farmers and community members on agroforestry practices, carbon market fundamentals, and long-term land management.
Why it matters
This initiative is not just about planting trees—it’s about planting opportunities. It empowers local communities to:
- Generate sustainable income through carbon credit markets.
- Enhance soil health, biodiversity, and water conservation.
- Create a resilient ecosystem that supports both nature and livelihoods.
Through this carbon project, Jugalbandi is pioneering climate-smart development that blends ecological restoration with rural economic resilience.
- Monitoring & Reporting:
Implement a system for real-time monitoring and data sharing with FCF India to track carbon performance and implementation milestones.
